Yes, when you run an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instance, you will be charged for the storage of the root volume, as well as any additional data stored in Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) volumes or Amazon S3 buckets. The cost of storage will vary depending on the type and amount of storage used, as well as the region in which the resources are located. Additionally, you may be charged for data transfer and other services if you use certain features, such as data transfer in or out of the instance or taking a snapshot of an EBS volume.

Note: Amazon S3 charges for storage and data transfer, while Amazon EC2 charges for compute resources and data transfer. Use the appropriate type of storage based on each workload's needs. Use AWS Cost Explorer and other billing tools to monitor how much the organization spends and avoid any surprise bills at the end of the month.

  • Are their any instance’s available in aws that do not charge for instance storage ?

While the instance exists you pay for the block storage (EBS) it uses. If you want "storage" while not running you have the option of taking a snapshot and deleting the instance; then you're storing the data in S3 at a much cheaper rate.

Hi! Yes, there is a price associated with storage of ec2 instances. For ec2 instances, we can depict this as the Elastic Blocstore costs. Amazon charges a rate of $0.10 per Gb-,Month for EBS volumes. These rates are comparable to that of what is S3 storage. The usage of the user determines of much of the cost is associated and you only pay for what you use!

Hope this helps!
