I would recommend following this step by step guide on closing your AWS Account:
https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/close-aws-account/
The most important consideration for you will be the fact that, even after closing your account, you may be billed for the duration of the 90 days that the account is being closed if you have not deleted all your resources. To ensure all your resources are deleted, read the above guide on section "Terminate all your resources before closing your account" or use aws-nuke (https://github.com/rebuy-de/aws-nuke).

Thanks! So I went ahead and closed my account BEFORE deleting all my resources. Is there any way I can make sure I will not be billed?
Hi, so the only way to ensure you will not be billed would be to unsuspend the account and run AWS nuke to destroy the resources. Afterwards, you can close the account again. If you are sure the cost will not be great, it may not be worth the hassle. You will need to judge how concerned you are for the potential costs associated with the currently running resources.
