As of now, there is no official announcement or specific release date for an Aurora Serverless v2 compatible version that supports MySQL Community 8.0.40. Aurora typically follows behind the community MySQL versions in terms of compatibility, and the release schedule for new Aurora versions can vary.

Aurora minor versions are generally released on a quarterly basis, but this schedule may be adjusted to incorporate additional features or critical fixes. The exact timing for supporting newer MySQL versions in Aurora Serverless v2 is not publicly available.

If you're currently running MySQL Community 8.0.40 on RDS and want to move to Aurora Serverless v2, you may need to consider temporarily downgrading to a supported Aurora MySQL version. It's recommended to keep an eye on AWS documentation and announcements for updates on Aurora Serverless v2 compatibility with newer MySQL versions.

In the meantime, you could consider exploring the currently supported Aurora Serverless v2 versions to see if they meet your requirements, or wait for future releases that may include support for MySQL 8.0.40 or later versions. Remember to thoroughly test your applications for compatibility when planning any database upgrades or migrations.
