As you correctly pointed out there are no CloudWatch metrics or native way to monitor BGP routes natively today. Your best bet would be to monitor this on your CGW (BGP advertised and Received routes)

there isn't a native AWS CloudWatch metric to monitor the number of BGP routes on a transit virtual interface.
- You can check the BGP routes on your on-premises router that is connected to the Direct Connect virtual interface. Most routers have a command or interface to display the BGP routes. For example, in Cisco routers, you can use the show ip bgp summary and show ip bgp commands to display the summary and detailed information about BGP routes, respectively.
