Currently, Amazon WorkMail email rules are designed to work on incoming emails as they are received, not on emails that are already in your inbox or folders. The rules you create are applied to new messages as they arrive in your mailbox.
Unfortunately, there isn't a built-in feature in Amazon WorkMail that allows you to run rules on existing emails. This limitation means that cleaning up a large number of existing emails based on subject text or other criteria can indeed be a challenging task.
While this feature is not currently available, it's a valuable suggestion for improving the service. Amazon regularly updates its services based on customer feedback and needs. However, I can't speculate on whether or when such a feature might be added.
In the meantime, for managing a large volume of existing emails, you might need to explore alternative solutions. These could include:
-
Using the search function in the Amazon WorkMail web application to find emails with specific subject lines, then manually deleting them.
-
Utilizing third-party email management tools that can integrate with Amazon WorkMail and provide more advanced email organization features.
-
If you have technical expertise, you might be able to use Amazon WorkMail's API to programmatically manage your emails, though this would require custom development.
Remember, while these alternatives might help, they don't provide the same ease of use as having a built-in feature to apply rules to existing emails. If this feature is important to you, consider providing feedback to Amazon about this need. They often use customer feedback to prioritize new features and improvements.

Hi,
As the re:Post Agent already said, WorkMail does not offer a feature like this at the moment. Email rules are designed to process incoming mail.
Windows Outlook can run the rules on the client side with the run rules now option.
I will forward this feedback as a feature request to the service team,.
Kind regards, Robin
