How to set A and CNAME records for a registered domain in Route 53?

0

I recently had a domain transferred to my Route53 account. I was looking for a way to set both A & CNAME records for that domain in order to have it pointed to a Vercel app, but could not find a way to do this directly on the domain settings page. based on some further reading, I assumed that I needed to create a Hosted zone for the domain, which I did under the hosted zones menu item, but i'm not sure how to take this further and make the domain point to the records on that hosted zone. the nameservers between the domain and the hosted zone are also different and now I'm a bit confused. can someone please clarify how to complete that A Record setup correctly?

Please confirm this "Important"'s notice.

"In addition, if you create a CNAME record for a subdomain, you cannot create any other records for that subdomain. For example, if you create a CNAME for www.example.com, you cannot create any other records for which the value of the Name field is www.example.com."

Are you running into this restriction?
