What does "provisioned" mean for EBS pricing?

If I have a 30 GB ESB volume attached to my reserved instance, and say I'm using 20 GB of it in terms of disk space used, am I charged per month for the full 30 GB, or only the 20 GB that I'm actually using?

Greetings,

If you have a 30 GB EBS volume, you will be charged for 30GB even if you are only using 20 GB. This is what the docs mean when they say "Volume storage for General Purpose SSD (gp2) volumes is charged by the amount you provision in GB per month until you release the storage."

"the amount you provision" means the amount of disk space that you request for when you create your EBS volumes.

I hope that clears up any confusion.

Regards,
Tino
