Registering domains with AWS

0

A customer would like to register some domains with AWS, however has some questions:

  1. On the docs I see that AWS is partnered with a 3rd party that handles the registration of some specific TLDs like .land. They would like to know, before buying a .land domain: Do they end up agreeing to the 3rd party's service agreements along with AWS service agreements, OR will they be only agreeing to AWS service agreements.

  2. Can you register a domain in the Arabic language. I did see on the docs that there was an example of registering a Czech domain. However they just want to make sure, before registering, that they can register a domain in Arabic like: مثال.com

  3. Is it possible to transfer a .exposed or .land domain name to AWS?

  4. Is it possible to transfer an international language domain like مثال.com to AWS?

  1. The customer will be agreeing to https://aws.amazon.com/route53/domain-registration-agreement/ They will have to read themselves and decide if that works for them or not.

  2. Have a look at https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/DomainNameFormat.html#domain-name-format-idns for details on how non-ASCII domain names are handled and stored. Whether such an internationalized domain name can be used, depends on the top level domain (TLD). Check here (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/registrar-tld-list.html) if the TLD in question supports it or not.

  3. Both domains that you list are on the list of supported TLDs (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/registrar-tld-list.html)

  4. Yes, the TLD .com supports internationalized domain names. See https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/com.html
