EC2 Instance downgrade

0

Hi Guys,

I just want to ask, I'm planning to downsize our Core and RAM EC2 instance (from m4.4xlarge turn it into m4.xlarge), if this happen, will it affect the storage size and the data inside?

If it is EBS backed instance, then changing the instance size won't affect the storage and data would be intact.

No, the EBS volumes attached the instance will remain unchanged if you change the instance type. You may want to take a look at upgrading to m6i.xlarge. And take snapshots of your volumes before you scale the instance.
