Unable to Access Account- Domain Registered with AWS unreachable

0

Hello,

As my username suggests, I am deeply frustrated with AWS support for my issue. Maybe the community can help.

My issue: I transferred my domain from Namecheap to AWS. My root user and only access to AWS is an email address associated with that domain and using Googles email service. After the transfer, I'm guessing the mx records for the google email service were wiped from the domain now registered through AWS which has created an issue where I cannot receive a validation code to my root user email address to access the management console in order to update the mx records. I cannot receive any emails currently to any account on my domain. My domain is practically being held hostage by AWS since I cannot access it in any way.

Since AWS support keeps referring me here instead of helping with the problem here I am.

Potential options:

AWS removes validation from my account so I can log in without email verification. AWS changes the root user email address to something I can access temporarily. AWS unlocks my domain for transfer and I go host it somewhere else.

I've done what I know to do. I need help.

Edit: This is not the account in question. I created another account with a different email address and domain to be able to post here for help. I have no access to the management console for the other account.

I understand your frustration with this situation. It's a complex issue that can be very stressful. Based on the information you've provided, here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this:

  1. Contact AWS Support directly: Since you're unable to sign in to your AWS account, you should use the AWS account support contact form specifically designed for users who can't log in. This form allows you to explain your situation to AWS support staff who can assist with account recovery.

  2. Provide proof of ownership: When contacting AWS support, be prepared to provide any documentation or information that can help verify your ownership of the account. This might include billing statements, account details, or other identifying information.

  3. Explain the domain transfer issue: Clearly describe the situation with your domain transfer and the resulting email access problem. AWS support should be able to understand the technical aspects of this issue.

  4. Request temporary access or email change: You can ask AWS support about the possibility of temporarily removing email validation or changing the root user email address to one you can access. While these options aren't guaranteed, support staff may be able to offer alternative solutions.

  5. Domain transfer consideration: If you wish to transfer your domain away from AWS, you'll need to work with AWS support to regain access to your account first, as domain transfers typically require account access.

Remember, while community forums can offer advice, issues involving account access and ownership typically require direct interaction with AWS support. They have the tools and authority to verify your identity and make necessary changes to your account.

If you haven't already, try to recover access to your Google email account associated with the domain. Sometimes, even if MX records are missing, you might still be able to access emails through Google's webmail interface.

Lastly, once you regain access to your account, consider setting up additional security measures like multi-factor authentication using a method that doesn't rely solely on email, to prevent similar issues in the future.
