Can a customer test the AWS Direct Connect (DX) connection prior to the DX being created?

Customer wants to test that the connection is in place from the their network through the Colocation facility while waiting on the DX to be created, is it possible to give them an IP they can ping to see if all the connectivity is established?

Without provisioning Direct Connect (DX) you cannot test end-to-end connectivity. You need some DX resource, DX Virtual Interface (Vif) (Private/Public/Transit) to test connectivity.
They can work with the provider to see if they have any IP they they can try to reach in the co-location. Either way, there are too many variables and they'll have to work with the provider if they can/have DX Vif that customer can use to test end-to-end.
