Perform the following steps to get access to the files for troubleshooting and fixing.
- Take a snapshot of the Broken Instance (BI) root volume
- Stop BI
- Detach root volume from BI
- Start a New Instance (NI)
- Attach BI root volume to NI
- Mount the BI root volume on NI at the OS level
- Troubleshoot and fix file permissions.
- Detach BI root volume from NI
- Attach BI root volume to BI
- Start BI, now Fixed Instance (FI). :)
- Set up a Data Lifecycle Policy to automate snapshot of the FI.
