When raising an AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) fund request, you encounter two important dates: the Project End Date and the Claim Due Date. Let's explore the purpose and significance of each:
-
Project End Date: This is the date you provide when submitting the fund request. It represents the estimated completion date of your migration project. This date helps AWS track the project timeline and manage expectations. It's important for planning purposes and allows AWS to understand when the migration is expected to be finished.
-
Claim Due Date: This date is typically set one month after the Project End Date. The Claim Due Date is crucial as it represents the deadline by which you must submit your claim for MAP funding. This additional month gives you time to gather all necessary documentation and submit your claim after the project has been completed.
When submitting your claim, the Claim Due Date is the most critical date to keep in mind. You must ensure that you submit your claim before this date to avoid missing out on the funding opportunity. Submitting after the Claim Due Date may result in your claim being rejected or requiring additional justification for the delay.
It's important to note that AWS has recently introduced a new MAP template in the AWS Partner Funding Portal (APFP) that streamlines the fund request submissions and cash claims process. This new template automatically creates claim milestones and associates them with realized revenue outcomes, which may help partners better manage their claims and deadlines.
To ensure you don't miss out on funding, it's recommended to:
- Keep track of both dates, but pay special attention to the Claim Due Date.
- Prepare your claim documentation well in advance of the Claim Due Date.
- Submit your claim as soon as possible after project completion, rather than waiting until the last minute.
- If you anticipate any delays in project completion or claim submission, communicate with your AWS representative proactively to discuss potential extensions or adjustments to the dates.
By staying aware of these dates and managing your claim submission process effectively, you can maximize your chances of successfully receiving MAP funding for your migration projects.
