Can't ssh to server sometimes

I am maintaining a blog about stock trading for my school department on EC2. Sometimes I can't ssh to the EC2. I needed to restart the instance in the dashboard before I can ssh again. Is there any way to fix this problem?

You could alternatively use EC2 Instance Connect, removing the need to manage keys, and since it's managed by IAM might make connecting more consistent.
