GameLift in 2020 - Major update now available in preview

0

Calling all game developers! Today, we’re excited to release an update that enhances the flexibility in how you can adopt and use GameLift. Available now in preview, the updated GameLift FleetIQ feature allows you to on-board game server workloads to the AWS cloud while using your own game server management layer. You can now use GameLift FleetIQ to launch new games and scale or migrate live games onto low-cost AWS game servers. Just like with GameLift, you can save up to 70% compared to existing on-premises deployments.

Here’s how it works. With three APIs, you can setup an Auto Scaling group in your own AWS account where GameLift FleetIQ automatically manages Spot instances to avoid game session interruption, providing you low-cost game servers that you can add alongside your existing on-premises capacity to host your live games. You can also use containers or integrate instances with other AWS services such as AWS Shield and Amazon Elastic Container Service because with the updated GameLift FleetIQ, instances can run in your AWS account.

We can’t wait to see what you build with the updated GameLift FleetIQ! To learn more, check out our blog and developer guide.
