As of now, AWS has not yet officially announced which Aurora PostgreSQL 16.x minor version will be designated as the LTS release. Historically, AWS has made these announcements a few months after the initial GA release of a major version, once the engine matures and stabilizes across all supported regions.
For reference: Aurora PostgreSQL 13.9 and 14.6 were declared LTS builds several months after initial support was launched. These LTS tags help customers plan for fewer forced upgrades and longer operational stability.
What you can do: Continue testing against Aurora PostgreSQL 16.x in dev/staging environments. Monitor the Aurora release notes and AWS Databases Blog for official LTS announcements.
