Evaluation of AWS IoT-Compatible Plug-and-Play Edge Devices

I am looking for AWS IoT-compatible devices that can be recommended to customers for quick integration without requiring extensive development or software management at the device level.

The primary goal is to identify devices that:

• Do not require proprietary third-party cloud platforms – Customers should be able to directly connect devices to our AWS IoT Cloud using provided credentials and certificates.

• Have minimal onboard software – Devices should support basic secure connectivity (e.g., MQTT over TLS) with AWS IoT Core, avoiding complex software stacks. This allows us to reduce the burden of software maintenance at the edge.

• Support plug-and-play integration – Devices should easily connect to existing industrial systems and be able to: * Read sensor data (e.g., temperature, humidity, voltage, GPS/location) * Send commands to actuators or control endpoints, if necessary

• Include pre-programmed, inbuilt sensors – We are specifically looking for devices that come ready-to-use without requiring customers to write code. Basic configuration (such as setting AWS credentials and certificates) should be the only required step.

• Include built-in gateway functionality – Devices should support at least one of the following for direct connectivity: Cellular, Ethernet, or Wi-Fi.

• Preference is for single-unit devices that do not require a separate gateway.

• Are from well-known vendors – Preference for devices from reputable vendors such as Intel, NVIDIA, or others with wide market adoption, documentation and long-term support.
