Removing a website from the internet

0

I was formerly in private practice as an attorney. I am no longer practicing law, and no longer need a website to attract clients. Google provided various services relating to my website (I'm not smart enough to know exactly what they did, but when I wanted content added/changed, I contacted Google). When I contacted Google with this question, they told me to contact AWS (because, I think, AWS must be the website host?). How can I delete my website so that it no longer appears in any search results?

AWS can't interfere with the results from third-party search engines like Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc.

If AWS is your domain registrar the steps to delete your domain are here https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/domain-delete.html

https://lookup.icann.org/en/lookup - visit this site and you will get the reasonable information (Domain Registrar) for yor domain. Some domain you cannot delete by yourself (clientDeleteProhibited), if your domain is with AWS you can request them to remove it for you.

To remove your website from the internet, you will need to take a few steps:

  1. Cancel your hosting service with your web host provider, which in this case is AWS. You can do this through the AWS Management Console by stopping or terminating any running instances or services associated with your website.
  2. Remove any domain names associated with your website. This can be done by logging into your domain registrar account (the service where you purchased your domain name) and deleting the domain name.
  3. Submit a request to Google to remove any cached versions of your website from their search results. You can do this through the Google Search Console by submitting a removal request.

It's important to note that removing your website from search results does not guarantee that it will be completely removed from the internet. Archived versions of your website may still exist on web archives or other sites.
