Systems Manager Document attachment storage costs

0

Customer has received below notification for their AWS accounts -

"Starting June 2024 you may notice an increase in your AWS bill for AWS Systems Manager, relating to storage of attachments for System Manager Documents. This communication is to inform you that starting June 2024 you will be correctly billed for using Systems Manager Documents attachment functionality per the AWS Systems Manager public pricing

Why did this happen? We identified a billing issue in May 2024 where customers were not being billed for the storage of Documents attachments starting from December 2022. We resolved the issue in June 2024 and billing for this functionality is now working as expected. You will not be billed retroactively for usage between December 2022 and June 2024."

Does this only include documents customer have uploaded? Customer looked at some of these accounts where the notification was sent to and confirmed there is only AWS Owned documents. Will there be a cost associated with the usage of AWS-owned documents in systems manager?

AWS-owned documents are pre-configured templates or scripts provided by AWS as part of the Systems Manager service. The storage cost for these documents is likely factored into the overall pricing of Systems Manager itself, which you might already be paying for. There's no additional charge for simply using them.
