MIGRATING RDS INSTANCES TO IPV6

0

Hello AWS developers,

Please I would like to know, is migrating already existing RDS instances to IPV6 easy or complex?

If it's fairly easy, then please can I get an easy step by step process/walkthrough?

To answer most of your questions, this blog post IPv6 addressing with Amazon RDS covers the ask in a very detailed manner.

Please take a look if not already gone through and see if it helps.

Comment here if you have additional questions, I"d more than happy to assist.

  • Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for your response, however I have another question.

What does the following statement mean ? (I found it in the same link you provided)

"Databases that have only IPv6 endpoints are currently not supported by Amazon RDS, and dual-stack databases are only supported in private mode—publicly accessible dual-stack DB instances are not supported."

Does "publicly accessible dual-stack DB instances are not supported" mean that my personal projects (hosted on Vercel and Render) wont be able to access my AWS RDS instances over the internet ?

If Yes, then what's the point of me migrating if I would no longer be able to access my RDS instances ?

Please let me know your thoughts.
