S3 interface endpoint AZ specific DNS

0

Dear Team - We have created S3 interface endpoint in VPC-A in AZ-A and AZ-B. This creates the Regional and AZ-Specific DNS name. Clients from other VPC-B (AZ-A and AZ-B) is accessing the endpoint through regional DNS name. Question is, if client from VPC-B AZ-1 access the regional DNS Name and if regional DNS name send the request to AZ_B specific endpoint then will it incur the data transfer charges for cross-AZ. One more thing , will it add any latency in above scenario ?

See this announcement:

AWS PrivateLink: All inter-Availability Zone (AZ) data transfer charges associated with accessing services via a VPC Interface Endpoint (powered by AWS PrivateLink) are now free of charge. These changes apply only to VPC Interface Endpoints and not Gateway Load Balancer Endpoints. There are no changes to the data processing charges for VPC Interface Endpoints and these will continue to be charged at the standard data processing rates.

As for latency it is best to do the testing to validate.
