Volume can't be detached

0

My account was being on hold and after I get access to account I can't start my instance.

When I click storage tab in my EC2, the error "Failed to describe volume vol-000321e527462ca02 The volume 'vol-000321e527462ca02' does not exist." appears. Also no matching volumes found by id in ElasticBlockStore.Volumes.

How can I detach this volume?

I would check your Personal Health Dashboard and see if there is info about your instance being degraded. Probably a good idea to open a ticket with support to have AWS check the instance. I have seen similar situation with detaching ENI and attaching to replacement instance in the past when there was an issue with the physical host that the instance was running on. This usually resolved itself after some time (about an hour) but AWS was able to force the instance to stop and allow the detachment via support ticket.

  • Thanks for your reply, but I can't open a support ticket on the free plan.

One solution I see is to create another EC2 instance and attach my EBS (from snapsot) to this instance
