KB5014669 in AWS-InstallWindowsUpdates command document

Hi Paul,

I believe you would like to know when the post update for KB5014669 in AWS-InstallWindowsUpdates command document will be available. Microsoft publishes it not Systems Manager or AWS. Systems Managers leverages the Windows update APIs. It prompts Windows update to perform the action selected within the patch operation (Scan/Install).

Microsoft will release this patch and the customer will use the automation document. The automation document will run on the machine and call the Windows update API or fetch any updates approved in customers Windows Update Server if the KB is there it will be installed. Systems Manager will run the document but the updates will be fetched on Windows OS side.

There is a scan option on this document which will scan the instance and check if any updates are available to be applied. The patch was released on 23rd of June and Microsoft releases updates every second Tuesday of the Month [1], therefore it would be released on the 12th of July. Which would mean its in the Windows update repositories and therefore when Systems Manager document run after the 12th of July would be available in the Windows Update repositories and then will be installed.
