Windows Instance slow since today

0

Hello, this morning when I connected trough RDP I noticed long laggy connection. I have restarted instance and had problem with getting in for an hour+. Finally I got inside, but it is very slow basically in every task, like opening folder. CPU is at just few % of utilization, and lots of available ram. I found other topics saying that it may be due to lack of CPU credits, but in monitoring page I see usage is at 0.859, and balance at 655.

This is t2.2xlarge instance with Windows Server 2019.

Hi there!

thank you for posting your concern here.

In this case there are many possible causes of this problem, can be a problem with an external service that your instance relies on, also disk thrashing and can be network connectivity issues, I suggest that maybe you check the EBS volume metrics since Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) sends data points to CloudWatch for several metrics. Amazon EBS General Purpose SSD (gp2), Throughput Optimized HDD (st1) , Cold HDD (sc1), and Magnetic (standard) volumes automatically send five-minute metrics to CloudWatch.

You can use this link also to do further trouble shooting https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/ec2-instance-slow-cpu-not-high/

I hope this will help.
Thank you
