Change from RDS io1 to gp3 SSD

0

Kia ora,
Im migrating a 200gb postgres db to RDS with gp3 SSD.
I did a trial run and it took along time (I think) due to iops limit. Time was about 2 hours. I need to have minimum app downtime. Is it possible to change from gp3 to io1 SSD and then back to gp3 again so I can restore db to RDS in shortest time possible but then use gp3 for normal operation ?

Thanks for any assistance.

Hello.
Yes, it is possible to change the storage type later.
You can change them together at the RDS change screen where you change the storage size.

  • Thanks very much Riku. That helps me a lot.

  • Hello,

if I changing storage type from ios1 to gp3, does DB will be not accessible during migration or it will be online and operative ?
