Below are the steps:
1/ Create a Direct Connect gateway
2/ Associate a Virtual private gateway (VGW) Or Associate Transit gateway (TGW)
3/ Provision a Private virtual interface Or a Transit virtual interface to a Direct Connect gateway

Hello, Yes you can do that and have Active-Passive connections.
Advertise community tag 7224:7300 on active link and 7224:7200 on passive link and this should work.
If you want it to be active-active, please advertise the same tags on both the connections.

1.) can we associate multiple direct connect ports with same Direct connect gateway and it works in Active passive ?
We don't want to use Transit gateway to avoid additional cost. Planning to associate VGW with Direct connect gateway.
