Windows Server Standard Edition

Question

A customer is asking if AWS only provide Datacenter editions of Windows Server or if we also offer Standard editions. Checking on the AMI's I could not see any Standard edition as well.

Has anyone have insights on this?

It might depend on the version you're looking for but here comes a [full list of supported AMIs][1]

For instance the answer is "yes" for  [Windows Server 2012 R2][2]

"We will be releasing AMIs with Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Edition. For details on the differences between the Windows Server Editions, please refer to the Microsoft documentation."

And you'll see a variety of offerings for Win 2019.

Part 2 :

It looks you're right for AWS provided AMIs , but there seems to be an option if you enhance your search to marketplace :

["Microsoft Windows Server 2016 with SQL Server 2019 Standard"][3]

Frankly speaking i'm not quire sure about its difference than AWS provided
["Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Base"][4] 
. It might make sense to check with MS Team
