Leaving Organistion account to become stand alone AWS account, payment of outstanding invoice.

-1

My AWS account was set up under an organistion. Payment was made for services through the payer account. Payments were made until recently when billing preferences had to be updated. Now I cannot access the payer account and the administrator has been unable to help to resolve this issue.

How do I pay an outstanding invoice if I cannot access the payer account?

I wish to leave the organistion and be a stand alone AWS account responsible for all payments for the AWS service for hosting/retreiving images on a webforum focused on sustainable tourism/conservation. If I leave how does that affect the images hosted and retreived in the past years? I cannot afford to lose these resources as it will negatively impact the webforum.

I have submitted a number of tickets requesting assistance from support but have received no responce and as there is an outstanding invoice requiring immediate payment I do not want my account and services to be suspended.

With thanks.

I understand your urgent situation regarding the outstanding invoice and your desire to leave the organization. Let me address your concerns:

Paying the Outstanding Invoice:

Since your account is currently part of an organization with a payer account, the billing responsibility lies with that payer account. However, if you cannot access it, you have a few options:

  1. You should create a case in the AWS Support Center specifically about your billing issue and inability to access the payer account. This is the most direct way to get assistance with payment issues.

  2. Once you successfully leave the organization and become a standalone account, you'll need to set up your own payment method. You can do this through the AWS Billing and Cost Management console under the Payments section, where you can add and manage payment methods.

Regarding Your Data and Resources:

When you leave an organization to become a standalone account, your AWS resources (including your S3 buckets with images) remain intact within your account. The organizational structure is purely administrative and billing-related - it doesn't affect the actual resources you've created. Your images and other resources will not be deleted or affected by leaving the organization.

Immediate Action Required:

Given that you've submitted support tickets without response and have an outstanding invoice, I strongly recommend:

  • Creating a new support case specifically focused on the billing issue and your inability to pay
  • Clearly state in the case that you need urgent assistance due to the outstanding invoice
  • Request guidance on how to transition to a standalone account while resolving the payment issue

The support team can provide specific guidance for your situation and help ensure continuity of service during this transition.

Following the advice above, as reviewed by Florian I did indeed submit a ticket requesting urgent assistance to pay the outstanding invoice. However I still have received no response to this or any prior requests for support: I want to pay ASAP and leave the organisation as outlined in my initial question and I am concerned that my account/services will be suspended due to non payment. Is there anyone from re:Post who can direct this case to a support agent so I can resolve the predicament?

Many thanks in advance.
