Unable to reset password for an AWS Email

0

Hi our AWS account 545862023671 has an email associated "ba-metrics@amazon.com". I am able to sign into AWS CONSOLE/account, the same account I am discussing here. However I am looking to reset password for "ba-metrics@amazon.com" using https://docs.aws.amazon.com/IAM/latest/UserGuide/reset-root-password.html and does not work. The password reset email from an address ending in @verify.signin.aws do not reach the inbox for "ba-metrics@amazon.com", i.e. external emails are not being received. How do i proceed? This is to resolve a Sev 3 Shepherd ticket and any help is much appreciated.

I understand you're having difficulty resetting the password for the email "ba-metrics@amazon.com" associated with your AWS account. Since you mentioned that external emails are not being received at this address, including password reset emails from @verify.signin.aws, we need to consider alternative approaches.

Given that you can sign into the AWS Console for this account, you have a few options:

  1. Update the email address: Since you have access to the account, you can change the email address associated with the root user. This can be done from the Account page in the AWS Management Console. Sign in as the root user, go to the Account page, choose "Edit" next to Account settings, and update the email address to one that you can access. You'll need to verify the new email address.

  2. Update the password directly: If you're already signed in as the root user, you can change the password without going through the email reset process. On the Account page, choose "Edit" next to Account settings, then select "Edit" next to the Password field. You'll need to enter your current password and then set a new one.

  3. Regain access to the email: If "ba-metrics@amazon.com" is part of your organization's email system, contact your IT department. They may be able to help you regain access to this email address or set up email forwarding to an address you can access.

  4. Contact AWS Support: If none of the above options work, you may need to contact AWS Support directly. They have additional processes to verify account ownership and assist with account recovery.

Remember to follow best practices for password security, such as using a strong, unique password and changing it periodically.

If you continue to face issues, please reach out to AWS Support for further assistance with your specific account situation.
