Based on the information provided in the most up to date article I've been able to find (Schedule email reports and configure threshold based-email alerts using Amazon QuickSight), here are the steps to send alerts to multiple people from the QuickSight dashboard:

  1. Configure Email Settings: In QuickSight Enterprise edition, you can set up emails to be sent out based on a threshold set for KPI and gauge visuals. The recipients of these emails should be part of your QuickSight account, meaning they must have completed the sign-up process to activate their subscription as QuickSight readers, authors, or admins.

  2. Set up Scheduled Email Alerts: To configure scheduled emails for your reports, follow these steps:

    • Navigate to the QuickSight console and select your desired dashboard.
    • On the Share menu, choose "Email report".
    • Choose the frequency for the report under "Schedule".
    • Under "Recipients", select specific recipients from the list or select "Send email report to all users with access to dashboard".
  3. Set up Threshold-Based Email Alerts: To create an alert based on a threshold, follow these steps:

    • On the QuickSight dashboard, navigate to the dashboard you want.
    • Select the KPI or gauge visual that you want to create an alert for.
    • On the options menu at the upper-right on the visual, choose the "Create alert" icon.
    • Enter a name for the alert under "Alert name".
    • Choose a value that you want to set the threshold for under "Alert value".
    • Choose a condition for the threshold under "Condition". The alert triggers if the alert value goes above, is below, or is equal to the threshold.
    • Enter a value to prompt the alert under "Threshold" and then click "Save".

Please note, however, that it seems that QuickSight only sends alerts to the account associated with the dashboard. If in the future QuickSight still does not support sending alerts to multiple people directly, one potential workaround could be to set up an email forwarding rule in the receiving email account to forward these alerts to multiple people. Please check with your email provider on how to set up forwarding rules. Another option is to set up a QuickSight account with a list email such as Google Groups.

  • Point 1 did not work for me. My colleagues have access to quicksight; however the email text box is grey out and does not allow me to input any email address. Does that mean there is no feature to send alert to multiple email address and i have to resort to sending out the alert thru email forwarding in outlook?
