Regain Access to AWS Account

0

Hello,

We are trying to login into our AWS Account using the root credentials but we are getting the following error message: "There was an error. An AWS account with that sign-in information does not exist. Try again or create a new account."

We are not sure if the email address associated with the AWS Account was changed. We're able to access the EC2 instances (via SSH) that were running in the AWS Account, so this means the account is not suspended and is still active.

We followed the guidelines mentioned in the following Knowledge Center and tried to get in touch with AWS Support. https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/forgot-aws-sign-in-credentials/?fbclid=IwAR3fPjVcFqdm8PJa6fqcp9BeyUP1uMn2jloMyTsRTu7cSavl9nCLusEYEfs

Moments later we got an email from AWS stating that they cannot provide account-specific information unless we're signed into the said AWS account. The whole point of contacting via the above link was that we no longer have access to the AWS Account.

I am aware that AWS RePost is monitored by AWS Engineers. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello there,

I'm so sorry to hear about this, it's not the experience we strive for.

Based on the information you've provided, we recommend writing back on your existing case & emphasizing that you no longer have access to the account. Once you've done so, our Support team will review your response and write back with further guidance.

We appreciate your effort and patience.

I am assuming you have no access whatsoever to the console. Do you have access to CLI. Either using Keys or from the EC2 instances that you have access to.

  1. If so you can use such an access to create/modify a user so you may be able to login into the console.
  2. Then login to the console with the above user and proceed to investigate from there.

Otherwise talk to AWS Support and explain your situation.
