Microchip (PIC32) removed from amazon-freeRTOS project

0

We recently discovered that the developers of amazon freeRTOS deleted Microchip and its boards from the main branch in the amazon-freeRTOS project on GitHub. Is microchip no longer an AWS partner and this is permanent? or Is it just an actualization to a newer board?

This is important to us because we are currently working on microchip devices, and we are looking into AWS for out IoT fleet management and OTA updates, and is always convenient to not lose support.

As you correctly pointed out, we recently removed the Microchip PIC32MZEF port from the main branch. This is per agreement with our partner Microchip, following the obsolescence of the Curiosity PIC32MZEF development board https://www.microchip.com/Developmenttools/ProductDetails/DM320104 . We are working with Microchip to add support of the newer boards in the coming months. The PIC32MZEF port can still be accessible from our 202012.00 release https://github.com/aws/amazon-freertos/tree/202012.00.

Microchip continues to be our partner and both Microchip and AWS commit to provide support to our customers. Should you have any issues, please do not hesitate to contact us for support. Thank you.
