SSM RunCommand - failed to find platform: no manifest found for platform: debian, version 12, architecture arm64

I have an EC2 instance running Debian 12 on an arm64 (t4g.nano) box.

My Systems Manager configuration fails to run RunCommand for AmazonInspector2-ConfigureInspectorSsmPlugin with the error bellow:

failed to find platform: no manifest found for platform: debian, version 12, architecture arm64

When looking for the supported Operating systems by Amazon Inspector, I can see that Debian 12 is supported, although the compute platform is not mentioned.

Is it because I'm running arm64?

Here is a print of the error from SSM:

Hi,

Dear.

With arm technology, you may be facing problems when installing packages and their dependencies. See this documentation to start a new direction regarding the error. Arm technology is not yet very present with all its packages. I believe that soon there should be a compilation for all the required software.

Link AWS.

  • Yeah, but where does it say in the documentation that ARM is unsupported? I'm having no issues for Ubuntu running on ARM as well.

How can I be sure that the Inspector agent is not released for Debian 12?
