Glacier Retrieval Pricing

0

Would someone help to better explain retrieval request pricing.
Expedite is $10 per 1,000 requests. What exactly does that mean? $10 per 1,000 files being retrieved on top of the $.03 per GB?

Thank you

Restores from Glacier are charged on two dimensions, by API request, which is one per object (or file), and by GB restored. I've excerpted a relevant section from our S3 FAQ page below:

Q: How much does it cost to retrieve data from Amazon S3 Glacier?

There are three ways to restore data from Amazon S3 Glacier – Expedited, Standard, and Bulk Retrievals - and each has a different per-GB retrieval fee and per-archive request fee (i.e. requesting one archive counts as one request). For detailed S3 Glacier pricing by AWS Region, please visit the Amazon S3 Glacier pricing page.

So if I'm requesting to restore a folder that has 2,000 files, the requesting fee will be $20 for expedite?

Expedite is $10 per 1,000 requests.

Yes, assuming the cost of expedited restore requests is $10 per 1,00 requests, the request cost to restore 2,000 objects will be $20. However, there will also be a cost be GB restored for those objects.

Suggest looking at our AWS calculator (https://calculator.aws/) to model the cost before initiating the restore. You can also use standard or bulk to reduce the retrieval costs.
