Changing Reserved EC2 Instance Region

Question

Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to change the region of a Reserved EC2 Instance region? I have a reserved instance in us-west-1, but this region does not have workspaces and I need to move it to us-west-2.  If so, how?

Hello Ren,

Amazon EC2 Reserved Instances are subject to modification.[[1]](https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/ec2-modify-reserved-instance/?nc1=h_ls)  
However, First, check the conditions listed at Requirements and restrictions for modification. If your Reserved Instance meets the conditions, you can request to modify the following:

- Availability Zone
 - Scope
 - Instance size
 - Network platform

According to the above conditions, "Region" can't be modified.  
I think you can contact AWS Support with providing your RI Lease ID to see if you can cancel your Amazon EC2 Reserved Instance.
