When you upgrade or downgrade your AWS Support plan, the billing is typically calculated on a prorated basis. This means you will be charged based on the actual time you use each plan, not for the entire month.
If you upgrade from the Developer Plan to the Business Plan and then downgrade back after 3 hours, you should expect the following:
- You'll be charged for the Developer Plan for the time you used it at the beginning of the month.
- You'll be charged for the Business Plan only for the 3 hours you used it.
- You'll be charged for the Developer Plan again for the remainder of the month after downgrading.
However, it's important to note that the Business Support plan has a minimum monthly charge. Even if you only use it for 3 hours, you may be subject to this minimum charge. The exact amount would depend on your AWS usage during that time.
Also, keep in mind that frequent changes to your support plan may not be ideal. AWS designed these plans with the expectation that customers will choose a plan that suits their needs for a longer period. If you only need higher-level support for a short time, you might want to consider if there are other ways to address your needs without changing plans.
If you have concerns about the specific charges after making these changes, it's best to review your detailed billing information or contact AWS Support directly for clarification on how the prorated charges will be applied in your particular case.
