I am using the root user. But I understand what happened is a temporary block because of a malicious access attempt.

Ensure that the IAM permissions associated with your AWS account or IAM user include the necessary permissions to access Lambda functions. Lack of permissions can sometimes lead to errors like UnknownError. Also try visit the AWS Service Health Dashboard to see if there are any ongoing issues or outages with Lambda or other related services in your region.
