SES on Lightsail with cPanel

0

I am in the process of trying to move a cPanel instance over from anther providore to AWS. I trying to get the email limits removed and the PTR (rDNS) set. I was denied (which looks like they do that most of the time) and recommended on using SES. Was trying to get more info of the of denial, but the request ticket was already closed. I was a little upset as my current provider has their IP Blocks in some SPAM lists (MS, Apple). I have found out that other providores (HostGator, Linode) also have their IP Blocks being blocked and AWS does not have that issue. That is why I am moving all my VPSs to Lightsail.

After looking at SES, I am willing to give it a try as I can stay in the free tier. I am hosting non-profit orgs and the email is very light (maybe 100 emails a day). My question is, has anyone else used SES with cpanle/WHM and how do I get the rDNS record set? For what I am seeing the only way to get a rDNS record set is thew the Email limit removal request. Is that correct? If anyone knows a better way to get approved so I don't have to uses SES, that will be even better and yes, I did give them my security procedures and it was denied.

Thanks for any help.

I am not sure if you will be able to do this in Lightsail, however in EC2 you can update the reverse DNS for Elastic IPs.

Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) customers can now customize reverse DNS for their Elastic IP addresses

Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) makes it easier to setup reverse Domain Name System (DNS) lookup for your Elastic IP addresses and improves your email deliverability. A reverse DNS lookup for an IP address returns its domain name and is commonly used by email services to filter out spams. This release improves your email deliverability from EC2 by enabling you to set reverse DNS lookup with just a few clicks and meet a key spam filter requirement. Often, email services associate generic or incorrect domain name of an email’s IP address with spammers and drop such emails. Using this feature, you can assign your domain name to an Elastic IP address, enabling email services to validate your email’s domain name and, as a result, improve your email deliverability. This feature is now publicly available in US East (Ohio), Canada (Central), EU (Milan), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), and Africa (Cape Town) AWS Regions. To get started, use the AWS CLI, SDK or Console to set reverse DNS for an EIP. There is no additional charge to set reverse DNS for an EIP. For more information about this feature, visit the Elastic IP documentation.
