There was a SES rule set which we deleted.

The SES rule set is actually required in order to receive email through Amazon WorkMail.

Beyond that, you should verify that your TXT and MX records are set up properly. You should also enable Event Logging, and then check the logs for delivery issues.

The SES rule for Amazon WorkMail integration is there, we did not delete that. There was another work rule which we created in SES, that was deleted.

Started event logging. We tried to send an email to the address from the address. One one event is created for Outgoing Email submitted, which worked also i.e. Outgoing emails are working. But no log is generated after that for incoming email, no error, nothing. Email is not received in the mailbox.

MX and TXT records have been verified. We already have MX records for google workspace as well in DNS. Is that causing an issue? We cant delete those as all our other emails are configured to that. Please advise. Thanks

Hi,

MX records cannot be used to distribute mail. When a mail server sends a mail it will pick 1 server from the MX records and sends the mail to that service. If you have two different services in the MX records, only 1 will receive the email.

If you need to distribute your mail over two different services you need 1 service to be the primary mail router. It receives all the mail and either delivers it locally or forwards it to the other service.

In your case, you can receive mail on the Google workspace and forward mail for the WorkMail users from Google. You can configure the WorkMail users with the free awsapps.com domain as an email alias. In the google workspace you need to configure a rule to forward mail for the WorkMail users to the awsapps.com email address so the mails are correctly delivered at WorkMail.

Kind regards, Robin
