Are you sure that you are in the correct region? You can change the region in the top right of the AWS console
You can also use the global dashboard, in the EC2 instance pages, there is a tab at the side bar which allow you to see your EC2 instances, security groups, etc…across regions
To understand what happened to your EC2 Instance, you should the check CloudTrail Logs [1].
Events to check for:
- TerminateInstances: Records when an EC2 instance is terminated (permanently deleted)
- BidEvictedEvent - Indicates Amazon EC2 terminated a Spot Instance
- DeleteDBInstance: Records when a database instance is deleted
How to search for these events in the AWS Console:
- Open the CloudTrail console
- Go to "Event history"
- Use the filter dropdown menu and select "Event name"
- Enter one of the event names (e.g., "TerminateInstances")
- Optionally, set a time range for your search
The results will show:
- Who performed the action (IAM user/role)
- When it happened
- Which region
- The source IP address
- The specific resources affected

That sounds really frustrating! First, double-check your AWS region resources might still be there in a different region. Next, check your billing dashboard to confirm where the charges are coming from. You can also look at CloudTrail logs to see if your EC2 or RDS instances were deleted and by whom. If you suspect an account issue or security problem, reset your credentials and check for any AWS notifications. Since support is pushing a paid plan, try AWS forums, tagging @AWSSupport on Twitter, or submitting a free billing ticket they might help escalate your case. Hope this helps!
