Engine upgrade stucked, how to delete domain

I have an OpenSearch domain where the engine upgrade process has stucked for days. I have created a new domain, transferred the data there, so I do not need the previous domain anymore. But I can't delete it because of the ongoing upgrade process (error received: "An error occurred (BaseException) when calling the DeleteDomain operation: Operation not allowed while an upgrade or preupgrade validation is in progress.").

What sould I do??

I'd suggest opening a support ticket in your AWS account. I don't think there's anything else you can do during an upgrade other than to wait for it to make progress and to complete. Support can contact the OpenSearch service team, and they could override the automated process and destroy the unneeded domain, or possibly fix whatever issue might be causing the upgrade not to complete.
