Lightsail Unresponsive

0

I'm new to AWS. I created a new minimal Lightsail instance with Debian 11, Tomcat 9 and a static IP (3.98.42.206). It was running normally then at about 7:05AM PST today (May 22) I uploaded a .war file via SFTP. The transfer appeared to complete normally. I didn't do anything after that. Now it's unresponsive to both ssh and sftp. Metrics show CPU spiking to 100% then the graph grays out, which I am guessing means the monitoring system thinks it's down? (Status in AWS console shows "Running"). This same thing happened yesterday (it was unresponsive for hours but eventually came back on its own somehow). As far as I know this is a totally unremarkable instance with nothing special installed. Any suggestions?

As far as the information you shared, you can think that SSH etc. became impossible because the CPU was exhausted.
There are many reasons for CPU exhaustion.
For example, the load of the applications you are running or the capacity of the storage you are using has reached its maximum.
We recommend checking your Lightsail metrics and system logs to see if anything is amiss.
