Can not send sms containing url

I am using sns to send text messages containing an url to my app. But when i am trying to send the text message the following error occurs "Unknown error attempting to reach phone". Does anyone know if it is possible to send such a message?

I get the same error message when I send SMS messages with a URL in SNS, and I only got the messages delivered after removing the «https://» prefix. I doubt that this is the solution, but it is my observation so far.
