AWS DMS Fleet Advisor

I have set up the DMS fleet advisor and ran the recommendations for the SQL server. It gave me Target recommendations. but I have confused about target recommendations.

  1. Initially I ran the recommendations for SQL server without SQL Agent jobs and linked server and Server credentials - The target recommendation is an RDS SQL server - I agree with this

  2. Second, I have created the SQL jobs and Linked server and credentials on the same server and I reran the recommendations and gave the recommended target as RDS again but, it should give the EC2 with SQL server, right ( SQL jobs and server credential and Linked server not supported in RDS SQL Server)

Can you please let me know why DMS is recommending the RDS instead of EC2? does DMS provide recommendations based on databases or servers?

SQL Agent jobs, server credentials and Linked servers are all supported features of RDS so, based on this alone, the recommendation is correct.

If AWS DMS Fleet Advisor identifies database features in use where Amazon Relational Database Services (Amazon RDS) limitations may exist, it should provide prescriptive guidance on what is required for migration (see here).
