Hello.

The error message "Task limit exceeded" in the context of copying an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) in AWS usually indicates that you have reached the limit on the number of concurrent AMI copy operations allowed for your AWS account in a particular region.

You need to conduct more concurrent AMI copy operations than the default limit allows:

  • Go to the AWS Support Center: https://aws.amazon.com/support
  • Click on "Create Case".
  • Choose "Service Limit Increase".
  • In the "Limit Type" dropdown, choose "EC2 AMIs".
  • Fill in the required details such as the region, the new limit value you'd like, and provide a use-case or reason for your request.
  • Submit the case.

Regards, Andrii

Thanks for the quick reply and hopefully AWS will add these steps to address the issue to their documents. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/CopyingAMIs.html?icmpid=docs_ec2_console
