OpenSearch upgrade Stuck at "Check eligibility" for multiple hours



I am currently upgrading my OpenSearch instance and it has been stuck at "Check eligibility" with status " In progress (28.57%)" for multiple hours.

Is it expected to take so long? Blue-green deployments on that cluster usually complete within an hour.

I have looked at the OpenSearch FAQ and there is a question that mentions the following:

For detailed list of the tests we run to validate upgrade eligibility, please refer to our documentation.

However, the documentation mentions no useful information about what happens during that eligibility check.

Not sure what to do here. Wait for a full day? Does it eventually timeout?

Hi , hope this situation has been resolved by now.

for the next time , or otherwise if you still have the issue. This is a case in which AWS Support should be able to help you, because no general answer may apply and something contextual to your account might be causing the issue.

Your best next steps would be to open a Support case, in case you have not yet a Support subscription, consider to upgrade to Developer Support or Business support depending on the urgency of your case.

Without looking at the internal logs or having more detailed information on the situation it is not possible to provide guidance, sorry.
