Hi,
you need to run this configuration wizard on a PC that can reach the AWS console as well as the AWS Backup appliance via the IP that you specify. This means the backup appliance needs to be deployed before you register it in AWS Backup.
When I created my gateways I proceeded the following way:
- I downloaded the ova from AWS
- I deployed the ova on my vSphere environment. Before I turned the appliance on I registered the automatically assigned MAC address in my DHCP server
- I turned on the deployed VM and verified that it got the IP address from the DHCP server and responded to ping
- I ran the configuration dialog (your first screenshot) in the AWS console
The settings are basically transmitted from the AWS console to your backup appliance via your browser and a HTTP redirect.
Your second screenshot shows a connection refused message, which could be caused by a firewall blocking the request or other network connectivity issues.
Confirm if the port 80 (used only for activation) is allowed-listed in your security group/firewall.
