Hello.
The advantage of using a CDN is that the CDN performs caching, which reduces the load caused by accessing Lightsail.
In other words, it may be effective if a large amount of access is currently occurring and the resulting high load is occurring.
Caching also allows content to be delivered quickly to users.
Currently, we recommend using it when the load is high.

Thank you ! I tried to add it but there is no option to add the distribution ! Do I have to go through the whole installation again in order to have the distribution (CDN) added ?
No, you can configure the distribution from the Lightsail screen. https://lightsail.aws.amazon.com/ls/docs/en_us/articles/amazon-lightsail-creating-content-delivery-network-distribution
