How to add multiple domains to a lightsail container certificate?

0

Hello, I am trying to add a certificate to my lightsail container. I've added 4 domains with 2 apex domains and 2 w/ 'www.' subdomains. I receive a 400 error stating that I cannot add a certificate with more than 3 sans. If I understand the reference, a SANs in this case is alternate domain names.

Lightsail certificate error

When I review the documentation, it states that you can add up to 4 domains to a lightsail container 'custom domain' certificate.

How do we go about adding multiple domains for a custom domain certificate? Thanks

Hi,

The 4th domain slot of your container service's custom domains quota is being taken up by the distribution's domain. Hence it is limiting you to 3 additional SANs on the Certificate.

Please refer - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/lightsail/latest/userguide/amazon-lightsail-creating-content-delivery-network-distribution.html#creating-a-distribution

If you choose a Lightsail container service as the origin of your distribution, Lightsail automatically adds the default domain name of your distribution as a custom domain on your container service. This enables traffic to be routed between your distribution and your container service.

Thanks.

  • I accepted the answer from AWS-SUM. Thanks! This is true, but there still remains the problem that I need to attach the 4th domain.

I have 2 apex domains and need to add the common 'www.' subdomain to both. This appears to not be possible in lightsail. www.first_domain.com first_domain.com www.second_dmain.com second_domain.com

If this isn't possible, since the default takes up the 4th slot, then will I have to transfer out of Lightsail to make this possible? Or is there an alternative to adding the subdomain?

    Thanks
