Upgrade t2.medium

0

We currently have a t2.medium instance but it is no longer sufficient. Is it possible to switch instances without having to reconfigure them, preserving the operating system and applications that are currently running? I can't find a list where to check the compatibility of the instances...

Here is a good article which details how to upgrade: https://www.logicata.com/blog/aws-ec2-change-instance-type/ Hopefully, you are running on an EBS backed instance.

Concerning capability, review this link: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/resize-limitations.html

Thank you guys

So if I have a:

  • Instance type: t2.medium
  • Root device type: EBS
  • Virtualization Type: HVM

I shouldn't have any problems upgrading to a t2.xlarge. Correct?
